It is an idea that a DIY kit are designed together with both PCB and chassis, let entire kit look like a quite complete combination. And
because of the integrity plan, the diyer can easily assemble them
without any efforts. and the most important, much more resemble the
factory machine appearance. PCM1732 DAC is a start.
PCM1732 DAC has used PCM1732U HDCD DAC chip, it has 2 inputs (the
optical fiber and the coaxial input) , the analog output is a
non-balanced output.
Digital receiver chip is Cirrus Logic CS8414.
The output of PCM1732 first pass through the low pass filter, the high
frequency signal is filtered by the low pass filter. After LPF lets the
inverting amplifiers will invert the phase to the output.
OPA134 ultra low-noise operational amplifier is the active device of LPF and inverting.
The power regulators are LM317 and LM337, which output voltages are
adjusted by 25 turns SVR. Two of them supplies the voltage of CS8414
and PCM1732 seperately; two are is responsible for
positive/negative power of OPA134.
The transformer is made by the factory with many years experiences, and is made to avoid any excessive hum/vibration and heat.
The status of DAC is indicated through a set of LED on front plate, each LED indicate the status of power/locking/HDCD.
The size of the chassis is 20 cm wide, 11 cm height and 30 cm depth, with
face plate 8mm thick. The face plate is mounted from inside by screw
firmly, avoiding the screw to destroy the esthetic sense. The chassis is
processed with silk and the anodic treatment from outside to inside.
